Petra Buchwald did her undergraduate work at the University of Duesseldorf, Germany. There she received her Ph.D. in 1996 in Educational Science. In the year 2000 she got the Bennigsen-Foerder-Award for outstanding research of the Ministry of Science. Since 2004 she has been working at the University of Wuppertal (Germany), where she serves as Professor for Educational Science in the School of Education at the Faculty of Educational and Social Sciences.
She has authored or edited twentyfive previous books, including ‘Interkulturalität in der Schule’ (2017), ‘Stress and Anxiety – Theory, practice and measurement’ (2020) and ‘Die Theorie der Ressourcenerhaltung: Implikationen für Stress und Kultur’ (2020). Further, she has published over 100 academic articles and book chapters, including ‘Test anxiety and performance in the framework of the conservation of resources theory’ (2010), ‘The Exam-Specific Strategic Approach to Coping Scale and Interpersonal Resources’ (2003) and ‘Social Support and Coping within Facebook? Impact of an Online Social Network on Coping Processes’ (2012). She was Secretary/Treasurer of the “Stress and Anxiety Research Society” (STAR; www.star-society.org) since 2002 and STAR President from 2008 to 2014.
